A coupling is a piece of pipe applies to connect two different male threaded fittings (nipple or pipe). Usually the coupling is thoroughly threaded or has a barrel (in-threaded) section in center of the coupling (known as barrel coupling). When coupling has uneven / unequal threads to connect two different pipe or nipple with different male threads, it is known as reducing coupling. The size of the reducing coupling is denoted by the major thread by minor thread.
